Barbara Farris Biography

Barbara Farris was a WNBA basketball player who played for the Detroit Shock. Previously, Farris was a member of the New York Liberty. She appeared in all three of the Liberty's postseason appearances during the 2007 season, appearing in 28 regular-season games. After Liberty recruited Janel McCarville, Jessica Davenport, and Tiffany Jackson in 2007, Farris was forced to the bench. In 1994, Farris received his diploma from St. Martin's Episcopal School. She is a member of the Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame at St. Martin's. Farris earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from Tulane University in 1998. She was selected to the Conference USA All-Star first team as a member of the Tulane Green Wave women's basketball team in her junior year and had a total of 34 double-doubles. Farris was a member of the WNBA's Detroit Shock from 2000 to 2005. She has also played professionally in France, Spain, and Korea, as well as for the American Basketball League's New England club. She formerly worked as an assistant coach with the New York Liberty.
