Sabaa Tahir was raised at her family's 18-room hotel in the Mojave Desert of California. She spent her time there reading fantasy novels, stealing comic books from her brother, and misplaying the guitar. While working night shifts as a newspaper editor, she started composing An Ember in the Ashes. She enjoys all things nerdy, loud indie rock, and gaudy socks.
With her family, Sabaa presently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
