Timnit Gebru recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Fairness Accountability Transparency and Ethics (FATE) group at Microsoft Research New York before joining the Ethical AI team at Google. Prior to that, she was a Ph.D. candidate researching computer vision under Fei-Fei Li at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
She focuses on computer vision issues that occur as a result, such as fine-grained picture recognition, scalable annotation of images, and domain adaptation. Her primary research interest is in data mining large-scale publically available photos to acquire social insight.
