A jurist beyond reproach, her experience as the first African American Chief Presiding Judge of Atlanta's Fulton County Juvenile Court catapulted her to the forefront of the national justice system.

The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Judge Hatchett was recognized as Outstanding Jurist of the Year by the National Bar Association after only her first year on the bench. In 2003, the Court Appointed Special Advocates deemed her their National Spokesperson. She is the recipient of the NAACP Thurgood Marshall Award and founded the Truancy Intervention Project, which enlists the help of legal volunteers to provide early intervention with truants. In addition, Hatchett – a former senior attorney and manager of public relations for Delta Air Lines, as well as a board member of several Fortune 500 companies – was named among "100 of the Best and Brightest in Corporate America" by Ebony magazine.

Most recently, Hatchett announced the formation of the Hatchett Firm – specializing in risk and crisis management, as well as innovative and effective closing and settlement strategies. The firm will also engage a national network of Attorneys to handle complex civil litigation specializing in catastrophic injuries and mass tort litigation.

Ever the dedicated professional, Judge Hatchett says her most important accomplishment has been her ability to impact the lives of troubled youths and their families. She is the author of Say What You Mean and Mean What You Say and Dare to Take Charge, an account of the important life lessons she has learned from her years on the bench, including what it means to be daring and intentional when seeking your goals, the dangers of a rigid life plan, and why the past is not a prison.
