Jen Widerstrom is a trainer on NBC’s The Biggest Loser. In her first season on the show, Jen successfully coached Toma Dobrosavljevic to the winner’s podium. Jennifer Widerstrom is committed to helping people understand, learn and implement a holistic approach to health and wellness. As a leader in the health and fitness community, Widerstrom encourages others to find their best selves through the principles of healthy nutrition, dynamic physical exertion, mental well-being and most importantly, having fun. Most recently, Widerstrom saw a finalist and a winning contestant through competition when she became a new member of the hit NBC show “The Biggest Loser” in 2015. Her new role has given her the opportunity and platform to share her approach with others and also led Widerstrom to appear on shows like “The Talk,” “Today,” “Extra,” “E!,” “ET” and “Access Hollywood,” as well as on the cover of Health magazine and Muscle & Fitness Hers and in features in Shape, to name a few.
By looking at the weight loss journey from the inside out, Widerstrom’s approach isn’t as simple as a basic diet and exercise plan. She helps teach people to fight for themselves – to develop the power of their word and to show people how to believe in themselves. She believes that all people are beautifully different and complex – and people should celebrate that individuality to help push through their own personal obstacles. When given the tools to succeed, people thrive and small victories are transformed into huge accomplishments.
Formerly a star of NBC’s television show “American Gladiators,” Widerstrom is an elite personal trainer/group fitness instructor certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine with an emphasis in balance training, cardio performance, reactive and resistance training as well as in neuromuscular stretching. She is also a Master Trainer for Dynamax Medicine Balls and has also achieved her Crossfit Level 1 Certificate.
Widerstrom strives to live her mantra of helping others through philanthropic endeavors. She has volunteered at orphanages and schools in Rwanda, Kenya and Malawi, Africa, helping children to find self-confidence and self-esteem through sport and play. She has also supported our armed forces, doing personal appearances, signings and hosting events on Goodwill Military Tours for our troops in Kuwait, Iraq and Korea’s Green Zone, raising the morale of our service men and women.
