Scott Augenbaum Biography

Scott Augenbaum began working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 1988 as a support employee in the New York Field Office. In 1994, he was promoted to Special Agent and sent to the Syracuse, New York Office, where he conducted domestic terrorism, white collar and hate crime, and all computer crime investigations. Agent Augenbaum was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent in October 2003 and assigned to the FBI's Cyber Division's Cyber Crime Fraud Section, overseeing the agency's Intellectual Property Rights Program and Cyber Task Force Program. Mr. Augenbaum relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2006, where he led the FBI Memphis Division's Computer Intrusion/Counterintelligence Unit. To inform the public about new computer intrusion dangers and how to avoid being a data breach victim, Retired Special Agent Scott Augenbaum has had the chance to present hundreds of briefings on these threats over the past ten years. In addition to having multiple General Information Assurance Certificates, Scott has an MBA in information technology from American Sentinel University and a Masters's Certificate in Information Security Management from Villanova University.
