Dr. Scott Parazynski has lived and traveled extensively, having attended high school and a large portion of his formative years in Athens, Greece; Tehran, Iran; Dakar, Senegal; and Beirut, Lebanon. He received his education at Stanford University and Stanford Medical School before pursuing emergency and trauma treatment training at Harvard and Denver. Dr.
Parazynski is a specialist in human adaptability to harsh conditions and has published much on space physiology. He was chosen to join NASA's Astronaut Corps in 1992, flew five Space Shuttle missions, and did seven spacewalks (EVAs).
