Regina Spektor is a Russian-born American singer-songwriter and pianist who gained popularity for her unique blend of indie rock, anti-folk, and classical music. She grew up in a musical family. At the age of nine, her family immigrated to the United States and settled in the Bronx, New York City.
Spektor began studying classical piano at a young age, and her musical influences ranged from classical music to punk rock. She attended the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College in New York, where she studied composition and piano. In 2001, Spektor self-released her first album, "11:11," which garnered the attention of the music industry.
