Glee's David Dave Karofsky is played by actor Max James Adler. He is the most recent member of The Trevor Project: It Gets Better. It's unclear whether he'll return to Glee. Max Adler was a member of the First Chair All-State show choir at Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. He came to Los Angeles after graduation to pursue an acting career. Max Adler portrays school bully Dave Karofsky in the Fox television series Glee. Karofsky is revealed to be a closeted homosexual adolescent in the November 2010 episode Never Been Kissed, which was designed to address the problem of LGBT youth bullying. Karofsky kisses the object of his tormenting, openly homosexual student Kurt Hummel, in a scene that startled Adler, who had previously questioned his character's intentions (Chris Colfer). He received a positive response via the social networking sites Twitter and Facebook and said he was glad to represent such a large group of people, adding, "I've gotten so many messages from people all over the world thanking me because either they are Karofsky, they were Karofsky, or they know a Karofsky these last couple of days." Following the release of Never Been Kissed, Adler was approached by the It Gets Better Project, which works to prevent LGBT youth suicide. On November 15, 2010, he filmed a video for the initiative, in which he discussed bullies' attitudes and told viewers, "Being who you are is what's wonderful."
