Joe Klecko, together with Marty Lyons, Abdul Salaam, and Mark Gastineau at left end, anchored the Jet's strong defensive line known as the New York Sack Exchange, endowed with outstanding natural ability, fast feet, and an incredible drive to win.
In 1981, the four combined for 53.5 sacks, and Klecko is second only to Gastineau on the Jets' all-time sack list (as of the 2005-2006 season). Klecko also played semi-pro football with the Aston Knights while at Temple University, keeping his eligibility by using a fictitious identity (Jim Jones) and a fictitious university (Poland University).
