Jeffrey Buttle made his international debut in 2002 when he won the ISU Four Continents Championships against the odds, a performance he repeated in 2004. In his Worlds debut, he finished ninth, earning high accolades for his musicianship and creativity.
He won his first World Championship medal in 2005, and he was the leading skater on the Canadian Winter Olympic squad in 2006, winning bronze. In 2008, he won the World Championships gold (the first Canadian male to do so in 11 years), after two solid performances put him on the top step of the podium.
