Dakota Meyer is a decorated Marine Corps veteran and Medal of Honor recipient. Enlisting in 2006, he deployed to Afghanistan with Embedded Training Team 2-8. On September 8, 2009, during the Battle of Ganjgal, he defied orders and made five runs into heavy enemy fire, rescuing 36 U.S. and Afghan troops while wounded.
At 21, he became the first living Marine in 38 years to earn the nation’s highest honor, awarded by President Obama in 2011. Post-service, Meyer wrote “Into the Fire” (2012), co-authored “The Way Forward” (2019), and hosts the “Front Toward Enemy” podcast. A firefighter, EMT, and CEO of Dash Strategies, he founded Leathers for Legacy, a nonprofit for veterans.
