Victoria Arlen is a current ESPN TV personality who also doubles as a motivational speaker, model, and former American Paralympic swimmer. Arlen has two brothers and is a triplet. At the age of eleven, Arlen invented the rare diseases transverse myelitis and severe spread encephalomyelitis. Victoria's ability to communicate, eat, walk, and the move was immediately gone due to this highly unusual circumstance. She entered a vegetative condition where recovery seemed improbable. Arlen spent nearly four years trapped inside her own body, well aware of what was occurring but unable to act or communicate. Experts agreed that there was little to no motivation for endurance and that recovery was improbable. Arlen began to relearn how to speak, eat, and move in 2010. Arlen qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London as an individual for Team USA in June 2012 after setting a new world record during the US swimming preliminary competition. She received four awards in London: one gold and three silver. Arlen, a skilled competitor who transitioned to sportscasting in April 2015, joined ESPN as one of the company's youngest on-air talent.
