When Earvin Johnson earned the nickname "Magic" in high school one could say that it foreshadowed what was to come in his career. After a magical career at Michigan State University in which he led the Spartans to a National Championship in 1979 he was selected #1 overall by the Lakers and took his magic to Los Angeles.  

From 1979 to 1991 he led the Lakers to five NBA Championships, earning both NBA MVP and NBA Finals MVP honors three times to go along with his 12 All-Star selections and nine All-NBA First-Team nods.  Additionally, he was a part of the legendary NBA Dream Team that won Gold for the USA at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

In 2002 Magic Johnson was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame and rightfully took his place among the best players in the history of the game. Since that time he's gone on to be a highly successful entrepreneur, broadcaster, philanthropist and motivational speaker. His business ventures include serving as a part owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Sparks. Magic Johnson is a basketball legend, LA royalty, and a true American treasure.
