Tova Friedman is a Polish-born American Holocaust survivor, therapist, social worker, author, and educator. One of the youngest survivors of Auschwitz, she endured horrid conditions at labor camps and the death camp at age five, where she was tattooed with the number 27633. She and her mother survived by hiding among corpses during the camp’s evacuation; her father was imprisoned in Dachau. More than 150 family members were murdered. After liberation, Friedman emigrated to the U.S. at age 12. She earned degrees from Brooklyn College, City College of New York, and Rutgers University. She taught at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, directed Jewish Family Service agencies, and worked as a therapist for decades. In her 80s, Friedman gained global attention through the TikTok account TovaTok, sharing her story with millions. Her memoir, “The Daughter of Auschwitz” (2022), is a New York Times bestseller. She continues speaking against antisemitism and educating new generations about the Holocaust.
