The U.S. Naval War College's national security affairs professor is Tom Nichols. In addition, he spoke at Dartmouth College, Georgetown University (where he also earned his Ph.D.), and other institutions. He is now a Fellow of the Boston University International History Institute and a Senior Associate of the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs.

Tom served as a fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a consultant to the US government, and a research analyst for the private sector during his time in Washington.
