David Ignatius is a Washington Post columnist. In January 1999, his twice-weekly piece on global politics, economics, and foreign affairs debuted on the Post's op-ed page. After becoming executive editor of the Paris-based International Herald Tribune in September 2000, he continued to write regularly. Mr.

Ignatius started writing twice a week for the op-ed page when the Post sold its investment in the IHT in January 2003, and his work was syndicated internationally by The Washington Post Writers Group.
