Tom Daley, who was only 14 years old, was the second-youngest male competitor in the history of Great Britain. Tom Daley placed eighth in the men's solo 10m platform event at the FINA World Cup in February 2008, earning him a spot in the Beijing Olympics.
He defeated the reigning World Champion Gleb Galperin to win the European Men's 10m Platform Individual championship in March 2008 although just 13 years old. Tom Daley was substantially younger, shorter, and lighter than the competitors at 5 feet 2 inches and 7 stone 7 pounds.
