Chinese, Spanish, and Filipino-born Tia Carrere is well-known for her unmistakably exotic beauty. Carrere moved to Los Angeles shortly after earning her diploma from Sacred Hearts Academy in order to pursue a singing career. Although she was disqualified in the first round of Ed McMahon's Star Search in 1985, she stayed determined enough to secure local modeling gigs.
Later that year, Carrere had a fleeting appearance on Cover Up as a beauty competitor before landing a bigger role on CBS' action drama Airwolf. After that, Carrere joined the cast of General Hospital, a daytime drama.
