He oversees the New England Centenarian Study, which is supported by the National Institute on Aging, while also caring for elderly patients with complicated medical issues and difficult threats to their independence as an associate professor of medicine (the NECS). The NECS is the world's biggest study of persons who live to be 100 years old or older.
