Sons of the Prophet, a nominee for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize and winner of the Drama Critics Circle Outer Critics Circle Lucille Lortel and Hull-Warriner Awards for Best Play, was written by Stephen Karam. Speech and Debate, Roundabout Underground's premiere production; columbinus (New York Theater Workshop); and Girl on Girl (Brown/Trinity Playwrights Rep) are among the pieces included.
He wrote the lyrics for Dark Sisters, a one-of-a-kind chamber musical alongside arranger Nico Muhly (co-created by Gotham Chamber Opera MTG and Opera Company of Philadelphia). Dramatists Play Service, American Theater Magazine, Northwestern University Press, and Dramatic Publishing Co. distribute his plays. He's also written for The New York Times, The Advocate, and NY Magazine and McSweeney's online.
