Spike Feresten grew up in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, where he attended public school and worked as a bag boy at a local grocery. Feresten entered Berklee College of Music in Boston with the ambition of becoming the next Jimi Hendrix.
Feresten was disillusioned with his profession decision one night, so he threw four-foot fluorescent light bulbs out the window of his dorm room, only to watch them shatter on the sidewalk eight storeys below. He was apprehended and evicted.
