Spencer Stone is a retired United States Air Force staff sergeant and novelist from the United States. In August 2015, Stone, together with fellow Americans Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler, a Briton, and two Frenchmen, apprehended a shooter on a Paris-bound train traveling from Amsterdam through Brussels.
Stone rose to worldwide prominence after being acknowledged by US Ambassador to France Jane D. Hartley and US President Barack Obama for "his actions in saving many lives" during a ceremony held at The Pentagon to commemorate Stone, Skarlatos, and Sadler. He received the Airman's Medal and the Purple Heart.
