Sir Ronald Cohen Biography

Sir Ronald Cohen is the Chairman of The Portland Trust and the Global Social Impact Investment Steering Group. He is a co-founder and director of Big Society Capital, Social Finance UK (2007-11), Social Finance USA, and Social Finance Israel (link is external). He was the co-founder and Chairman of Bridges Ventures (2002-2012). He led the Social Impact Investment Taskforce (link is external), which was created during the UK's G8 leadership (2013-2015), the Social Investment Task Force (2000-2010), and the Commission on Unclaimed Assets (2005-2007). In 2012, he got the Rockefeller Innovation Award for social finance innovation. Apax Partners Worldwide LLP was co-founded by him, and he served as its Executive Chairman (1972-2005). He was the founder and Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association, as well as the European Venture Capital Association. He attended Oxford University and served as President of the Oxford Union. He is a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Henry Fellowship recipient.
