She holds a Master’s of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University and has been involved in psychologically-based research studies through the Boston University Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, McLean Hospital and Northeastern University. At the Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation of Greater Boston, she was a former Vice president. Benton has appeared on TV shows like NPR, The Today Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The CBS Early Show, and others. She was also featured by Jane Brody in a NY Times article and since February 2004, she’s been in recovery from alcoholism.
