Ronald W. Zweig Biography

Ronald W. Zweig is the holder of the Marilyn and Henry Taub Chair in Israel Studies and Director of the Taub Center for Israel Studies in the Skirball Department for Hebrew and Judaic Studies at NYU. He is also the Academic Director of the Paths to Peace program at NYU.
Born in Australia he obtained his PhD in Modern History from the University of Cambridge. He was Junior Fellow in Modern History at the Oxford University Center for Hebrew Studies; joined the Hebrew University Jerusalem from 1978and taught at Tel Aviv University from 1983 where he was Director of the Institute for Research in the History of Zionism. He resigned as Chair of the Department of Jewish History at Tel Aviv in order to join NYU in September 2004.
He has been a Visiting Professor at a number of US universities (Brandeis Ohio State American University in Washington DC) a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at Churchill College Cambridge; Yad Vashem Center for Holocaust Studies and at the Center for Advanced Studies of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC. He was a member of the Historical Advisory Panel to the National Archives in Washington DC has been a consultant expert to the US Dept. of Justice and the Jewish Agency.
