About Ronald Kessler
Ronald Kessler Biography
Ronald Kessler is a journalist from the United States who has written 20 nonfiction books about the Secret Service, FBI, and CIA. His works have been on the New York Times Best Seller list six times. Kessler grew raised in Belmont, Massachusetts, and was born in New York City. From 1962 to 1964, he attended Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, before beginning a career in journalism. Kessler is a father of two children. Kessler began his career as a reporter for the Worcester Telegram in 1964, then worked for the Boston Herald for three years as an investigative reporter and editorial writer. He was helpful in the placement of a better plaque marking the site of Boston's pre-Revolutionary-War Liberty Tree thanks to a series of articles he published while there. He began his career as a correspondent for the Wall Street Journal in the New York office in 1968. His reporting was recognized by the American Political Science Association (public affairs reporting prize, 1965), United Press International (1967), and the Associated Press during this time (Sevellon Brown Memorial award, 1967). Kessler began working as an investigative reporter for the Washington Post in 1970 and remained there until 1985. He received the George Polk Memorial Award for Community Service in 1972 for two series of articles he wrote: one on conflicts of interest and mismanagement at Washington area non-profit hospitals, and another on kickbacks between lawyers, title insurance companies, realtors, and lenders in connection with real estate settlements, inflating the cost of buying homes. That year, Washingtonian magazine honored him as a Washingtonian of the Year. Kessler received a second Polk Award in 1979, this time for National Reporting, for a series of pieces exposing corruption in the General Services Administration, despite the fact that his editor, Ben Bradlee, had not submitted his stories for nomination. Kessler has written 20 nonfiction books on intelligence and current events since leaving the Washington Post. Many contentious stories have been revealed in his novels. Kessler was the top Washington correspondent for Newsmax, a conservative website and magazine, from 2006 until 2012. His stories for Newsmax included interviews with President Bush, Donald Trump, Sam Donaldson, Andy Card, CIA Director Michael Hayden, Mitt Romney, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, Vice President Dick Cheney, Jim Cramer, Deborah Norville, Dana Perino, FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III, Brian Lamb, Juan Williams, Edwin Meese III, Condoleezza Rice, and Secret Service Director Robert S. Mueller III.
