Richard Schiff is an American actor, director, and producer. He was born on May 27, 1955, in Bethesda, Maryland, and grew up in a family of actors. Schiff began his acting career in theater, performing in various productions in New York City and Los Angeles.

In 1993, he landed the role of Toby Ziegler on the hit television series "The West Wing," which earned him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2000.
