Joseph Simmons, popularly known by his stage name Rev. Run, is a founding member of the influential hip-hop group Run-D.M.C. Besides his music career, Simmons is also a practicing Pentecostal minister.
Before forming Run-D.M.C., he was a lead vocalist in the hip-hop group called "The Force." The group's success led to the formation of Run-D.M.C., with Simmons as the lead vocalist, Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, and the late DJ Jason "Jam-Master Jay" Mizell.
