Dr. Mitch Prinstein is a clinical psychologist who specializes in adolescent mental health and has achieved distinction in this field. The American Psychological Association has appointed Dr. Prinstein as its Chief Science Officer to lead the association's science agenda while promoting psychological research applications across academic institutions and government agencies and industrial sectors and legal frameworks.
Dr. Prinstein serves as the John Van Seters Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Winston National Center on Technology Use, Brain, and Psychological Development has Dr. Prinstein as its Co-Director. Dr. Prinstein has maintained NIH funding for his research about adolescent peer relationships and their effects on depression and self-injury and health risk behaviors during the past 25 years.
