Mikayla Holmgren Biography

Mikayla Holmgren competed in 2017 Miss Minnesota USA competition Holmgren and became the first woman with Down syndrome to compete in a Miss USA state beauty pageant. At the event she won the Spirit of Miss USA award as well as the Director s Award. Previously Holmgren participated in pageants created for women and girls with disabilities winning the Miss Minnesota Amazing competition. Holmgren is also a Best Buddies ambassador. As an ambassador she has assisted Best Buddies with their expansion efforts to establish the organization s first office in the state of Minnesota. Through her work and with this initiative in the state thousands of individuals with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities will benefit from Best Buddies friendship programs in middle schools high schools and colleges their leadership development and advocacy programs as well as their renowned Best Buddies Jobs program.
