Matt Taibbi Biography

Matt Taibbi serves as an American author and journalist and podcaster who delivers sharp analyses of American political systems alongside media institutions and financial sectors. Matt Taibbi entered the world on March 2, 1970, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Before starting his career as a sports journalist at The Moscow Times he worked as a freelance reporter in Russia and the former USSR. The eXile tabloid newspaper emerged in 1997 when Taibbi co-edited the publication with his team. The publication gained fame through its bold and provocative reporting style.  

After moving to the United States in 2002 Taibbi started working at Rolling Stone magazine to become recognized for his political reporting and his unique writing style. The National Magazine Award in 2008 recognized his work through his columns which included his description of Goldman Sachs as "a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity."  

Taibbi joined forces with Katie Halper to create the Useful Idiots podcast in 2019 which delivers alternative views about standard media coverage. Through his Substack platform Taibbi started publishing his work as he launched Racket News to discuss censorship and cancel culture and media bias.  

Taibbi has written multiple books including Griftopia (2010), The Divide (2014), Insane Clown President (2017), I Can't Breathe (2017), and Hate Inc. (2019). Through his writing Taibbi received praise for his powerful analysis and his ability to question established stories.
