Martin Redrado, the former Governor of Argentina's Central Bank, is now the Chairman of the BIS's Americas Committee. Redrado established the Fundación Capital in 1994, which specializes in economic research and policy formulation, and served as its Chief Economist until 2001. He earned a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University and focused in finance and international economics.

While pursuing his private-sector career, he was asked by the government to serve as a public servant on many times. He was named President of the National Securities Commission in 1991, where he developed the new regulatory framework for the Argentine capital market, among other accomplishments.

He was elected Chairman of the Emerging Market Committee of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in 1992. Redrado served as Secretary of Trade and International Economic Relations from January 2002 until September 2004. In 1985, he began his professional career as a member of Jeffrey Sachs' team, which was tasked with implementing the Bolivian stabilization program.

Redrado worked for Salomon Brothers in the United States and London, where he gave advice on the privatization and placement of British Airways, British Gas, and Compagnie Financière de Suez shares, as well as the first placement of warrants of a Spanish business on the international market.

He was appointed Head of the Emerging Market Committee of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in 1992. He rose to the position of Managing Director at Security Pacific Bank, where he oversaw the ENERSIS (Chile) Employee Stock Ownership Program and the placement of large Mexican private firms.
