Mark Ehrnstein Biography

Mark Ehrnstein has been a very visible, real face of Human Relations at Whole Foods Market for over ten years. In 1999, he joined the Whole Foods Market team as Director of Team Member Services for the Northern Pacific Region, where he oversaw all Team Member Service Activities for 21 locations, servicing 3,500 team members, and oversaw recruiting and hiring for the opening of ten additional stores. Mark joined the Southwest Region in 2003 as the Executive Coordinator of Team Member Services, where he oversaw the creation and administration of human resources policies and procedures for the five-state region's 6,000+ team members. Mark was promoted Global Vice President of Team Member Services at Whole Foods Market in 2009. Mark leads six worldwide sub-teams in this capacity, eventually servicing more than 52,000 team members throughout the Company's 12 regions in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Mark was named a National Global All *Star by leadership in 2005, most notably for his role in the Hurricane Katrina response. Following the natural tragedy, Mark worked seven days a week for more than three weeks to guarantee that every one of the 565 team members affected by the disaster got not just a full month's salary, but also a full month's pay. Mark has won three National Global All-Star awards (2000, 2005, and 2008) and two Regional All-Star awards (2000 and 2004), including the MVP title for the Southwest Region in 2004. The Society of Human Resource Management awarded Mark his Senior Professional in Human Resources accreditation in 2007. Mark, his wife, and teammate Renée, and their three boys, Jacob, Nick, and Sam, live in Austin, Texas. Mark likes mountain biking, yoga, and, true to his California origins, surfing when he is not in the office.
