Mark Changizi is a theoretical neurobiologist with a specialization in vision, cognitive science, and language. He was born in 1969 in Fairfax, Virginia, and attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology before attending the University of Virginia for mathematics and physics and the University of Maryland for a Ph.D. in mathematics.
He received a coveted Sloan-Swartz Fellowship at Caltech in 2002, and he has been an assistant professor in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Department of Cognitive Science since 2007. His study attempts to understand the fundamental reasons why we think, feel, and perceive the way we do.
