Lee Thomas' broadcasting career began on Channel One News, a national news show for teens based in New York. Lee covered the Oscars for Channel One, conducted a live interview with astronauts on the International Space Station, and spent three weeks in Los Angeles during the 1991 riots.
With entertainment as his specialty, Lee went on to work for a brief time on Louisville Tonight Live, one of the country's only pm magazine-style entertainment shows at the time. Lee covered events such as the Nashville Fan Fair, the Demolition Man Movie Premiere, and, of course, the Kentucky Derby.
