She is the little girl of soul artist Donny Hathaway and a traditionally prepared vocalist. In 1990, Lalah Hathaway delivered a self-named collection. The collection's first single was Heaven Knows delivered by Derek Bramble. The subsequent single was Baby Don't Cry created by Angela Winbush. In 1991, Hathaway delivered her all-encompassing play Night and Day in Japan.
A Moment was delivered in 1994 appearing at #34 on the Top R&B collections graph. The lead single Let Me Love You graphed on the Hot R&B diagrams at #37. In 1999 Lalah Hathaway worked together with Joe Sample and delivered her third collection The Song Lives On.
