Dr. LaKimbre Brown is the District of Columbia Public Schools' Instructional Superintendent in Washington, DC. She formerly worked as a principal in the San Francisco Bay Area. She earned her Ph.D. in educational leadership and wrote her dissertation on teacher leadership development. She was named the Newark Unified School District's Elementary Principal of the Year in 2010. Dr.
Brown is a National Board Certified Teacher and Coach, as well as a two-time Fulbright Scholar who studied the structure of educational institutions in Japan and Brazil. She has taught new and prospective principals graduate courses in school leadership.
