Actress and Producer Kyra Sedgwick has worked in television, film and on stage throughout her career and makes a return to the screens on THE CLOSER, a TNT’s blockbuster series playing her Golden Globe® winning role as Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson. In the football comedy The Game Plan, Sedgwick co-starred with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. She also co-produced and co-starred in Loverboy, an independent film. Sedgwick’s other big-screen debuts include Rebecca Miller’s Personal Velocity, which won the Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival; Nicole Kassell’s award-winning The Woodsman, a dark drama co-starring Kevin Bacon which won the Jury Prize at the Deauville Film Festiva and had its world premiere in competition at the Sundance Film Festival and was showcased in Cannes as part of the 2004 Director’s Fortnight line-up; and Cavedweller which she created and produced and and received a 2005 Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Actress. Sedgwick has featured in numerous films like Singles, Lemon Sky, Hearts & Souls, with Robert Downey Jr.; Oliver Stone’s Born on the Fourth of July; the Merchant-Ivory production of Mr. and Mrs. Bridge; Phenomenon with John Travolta; Montana with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Stanley Tucci and Robin Tunney. Also co-starring in Behind the Red Door, opposite Keifer Sutherland and Stockard Channing; Secondhand Lions with Haley Joel Osment, Robert Duvall and Michael Caine; and Fisher Stevens’ Just a Kiss. And also for television, Sedgwick co-starred with Helen Mirren and William H. Macy in Door to Door, TNT’s Peabody Award-winning. Other onscreen jobs include Twelfth Night (or What You Will), Something the Lord Made and Losing Chase, which she executive produced and also starred with Beau Bridges and Mirren. And some of Sedgwick’s theater performances include Nicholas Hytner’s Twelfth Night at Lincoln Center, Ah Whilderness! won the Theater Award, David Mamet’s Oleanna which got her a Drama League Award and Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Circle Award; and The Culture Project’s New York production of The Exonerated. In the futuristic thriller Game, starring Michael C. Hall, John Leguizamo and Gerard Butler, Sedgwick also makes an appearance. In the new show Proof, along with Jennifer Beals, Sedgwick will also be featured.
