Kevin Davies is the founder and editor-in-chief of Bio-IT World and Nature Genetics, as well as the author of The $1,000 Genome, a book about the revolution in DNA sequencing technologies, personal genomics, and personalised medicine. Davies previously wrote Cracking the Genome, the first published account of the Human Genome Project race, which was translated into 15 languages.
Breakthrough, his first book co-authored with Michael White, was about the race to isolate the BRCA1 breast cancer gene. Kevin was born in London and studied biochemistry at Oxford University before earning a Ph.D. in human genetics from St Mary's Hospital Medical School (University of London).
