Kai Shappley is a transgender American actress, activist, and author. From age 18 months, Kai exhibited feminine behaviors, and by age four, socially transitioned to live as a girl, as detailed by her mother, Kimberly, a former conservative Christian.
Kai gained prominence advocating against anti-trans legislation in Texas, testifying before the Texas Senate at age 10 in 2021 against bills targeting gender-affirming care. Her activism, featured in the Emmy-winning documentary “Trans in America: Texas Strong” (2018) and “Mama Bears” (2022), led to her recognition as a 2021 TIME Kid of the Year finalist.
