Jorge is the producer of Ph.D. Comics, a weekly comic strip about academic life (or lack thereof). He's also a founding board member of Endeavor College Prep, a non-profit school for students in East Los Angeles, and co-founder of PHDtv, a video science, and discovery outreach partnership.
From 2003 to 2005, he was an Instructor and Research Associate at Caltech, where he received his Ph.D. in Robotics. He is a Panamanian native. With his partner Dwayne Godwin, a professor of Neuroscience at Wake Forest University, he won the 2009 NSF/AAAS International Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge First Place in Informational Graphics.
