Jon Ronson is a British-American journalist, author, filmmaker, and podcaster. He is known for his “gonzo” style of investigative nonfiction, in which he embeds himself among extremists, conspiracy theorists, psychopaths, and other fringe figures while remaining skeptical and empathetic. His best-known books include “Them: Adventures with Extremists” (2001), “The Men Who Stare at Goats” (2004), which was adapted into a film starring George Clooney, “The Psychopath Test” (2011), and “So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed” (2015), an early exploration of online cancel culture. His books are international bestsellers, translated into more than 30 languages. Ronson has also made documentaries for the BBC and Channel 4, contributed to This American Life, given popular TED Talks, and created acclaimed podcasts such as “Things Fell Apart”. His latest book is “The Castle” (2026).
