Joel Bervell Biography

Joel Bervell is a Ghanian-American medical doctor and social media sensation, most prominently known as the “Medical Mythbuster” where he has amassed over 1.3 million followers and 350 million impressions on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, to address racial disparities in healthcare, debunking medical myths and remaining a strong advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion in STEM. 

He earned his B.A. in Molecular Cellular Developmental Biology from Yale University, a Master’s in Medical Science at Boston University, and his medical degree from Washington State University, Elon S. Floyd College of Medicine. 

He hosts "The Dose" podcast with The Commonwealth Fund and created "The Doctor Is In", a YouTube STEM show to inspire kids in healthcare careers. Bervell co-founded Hugs for, a nonprofit empowering youth leaders, and has spoken at the FDA, Google, and the Clinton Foundation.
