Jody Adams is a James Beard Award winning culinary expert and visionary behind two of Massachusetts' most notable eateries: Rialto in Harvard Square and TRADE in Boston's Seaport District.

Known as much for her lowliness warmth and unshakeable hard working attitude concerning her culinary aptitudes Adams has sanctioned a distinguished and bold vocation that has seen her contending on BRAVO's Top Chef Masters (Season Two) driving culinary-centered bicycle visits in Italy and raising a huge number of dollars for makes dear her heart: most remarkably Partners in Health Share Our Strength which named her with their Humanitarian of the Year Award in 2010 and The Greater Boston Food Bank.

In the wake of graduating with a degree in Anthropology from Brown University Adams propelled her profession filling in as a line cook at Seasons eatery in the acclaimed Bostonian Hotel under Chef Lydia Shire in 1983.

After three years she helped open Hamersley's Bistro with Gordon Hamersley as his Sous Chef and in 1990 she became Executive Chef of Michela's in Cambridge.

While at Michela's Adams built up a notoriety for painstakingly investigated local menus that joined New England fixings with Italian culinary customs and was named with a renowned ""Best New Chef"" grant by Food and Wine Magazine. She and accomplices opened Rialto in 1994; only four months after the opening The Boston Globe granted Rialto four-stars.

In 1997 Adams got the James Beard Foundation grant for The Perrier-Jouet Best Chef Award: Northeast. Adams made an interpretation of plans from Rialto into In the Hands of a Chef: Cooking with Jody Adams of Rialto Restaurant (Harper Collins Publishers; January 2002) a book she co-composed with her better half Ken Rivard."
