Jeffrey David Sachs was born on November 5, 1954. He is an American economist, scholastic, public policy analyst, and previous director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University, where he holds the title of University Professor. He is known as one of the world's driving specialists on manageable turn of events, economic development, and the battle against destitution.

Sachs is co-founder of Millennium Promise Alliance, a charitable association committed to finishing poverty and hunger. From 2002 to 2006, he was head of the United Nations Millennium Project's work on the MDGs. He is co-supervisor of the World Happiness Report with John F. Helliwell and Richard Layard. In 2010, he became chief for the Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development, whose expressed point is to support the significance of broadband in global policy. Sachs has written a few books and gotten numerous honors.
