Jay Barker was born on July 20, 1972. He is a Birmingham radio presenter and former professional American football quarterback. Barker began his football career at Hewitt-Trussville High School in Trussville, Alabama. He received his diploma in 1990. Barker attended the University of Alabama, where he was coached by Gene Stallings.
Barker led the Crimson Tide to a national title in the 1993 Sugar Bowl, defeating the #1 Miami Hurricanes 34–13 in the last game of the 1992 season. Barker was named the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner in 1994 and placed sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting.
