George Friedman is a Hungarian-American geopolitical forecaster, strategist, and best-selling author. A child refugee after the 1956 uprising, he earned a Ph.D. from Cornell and founded Stratfor in 1996, pioneering private intelligence until 2015. He then launched Geopolitical Futures, analyzing the influence of geopolitics, geography, power, and long-cycle trends. His bestselling books include “The Next 100 Years” (2009), forecasting U.S.
dominance, a fragmented China, and space-based power; “The Next Decade” (2011), advocating pragmatic U.S. strategy; “Flashpoints” (2015) on Europe; and “The Storm Before the Calm” (2020), predicting America’s 2020s turmoil as part of an 80-year institutional and 50-year socioeconomic cycle leading to renewal. Friedman briefs governments and corporations, warning of rising spheres of influence, AI-driven warfare, and demographic crises.
