Eleanor Allen Biography

Eleanor Allen is a water and sanitation expert with over 20 years of expertise. She most recently worked at ARCADIS as the Worldwide Director of Water, where she oversaw a global water engineering consultancy in seven areas (North America, Latin America, Asia/India, the Middle East, Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia). She formerly worked with CH2M for 16 years, including overseeing Latin America Water, which covered water and wastewater projects in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and other countries. She began her career as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic, where she worked on water and sanitation projects. She has spent more than half of her professional life in Latin America, where she has lived and worked. Eleanor has managed regional and worldwide enterprises, led multi-cultural teams, and won and delivered infrastructure initiatives and projects. She is regarded as an inspiring and ethical leader who champions workplace diversity and inclusion. Eleanor holds a master's degree in environmental engineering from UC Berkeley and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and environmental studies from Tufts University. She is a Board Certified Civil Engineer, a registered professional civil engineer in California, Washington, and Puerto Rico (lapsed), speaks four languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch), and serves on the board of US-Brazil Connect. Eleanor lives in Denver with her husband and two sons and enjoys hiking, biking, and skiing.
