2020's Best New Chef, according to Food & Wine The chef and proprietor of MIDA in Boston's South End is Douglass Williams. Williams, who draws his inspiration from the straightforwardness of traditional Italian culinary practices, aspires to produce his meals with generosity and consideration for others as well as for the community.

Williams is honored to be the only Black-owned fine dining establishment in Boston. Williams integrates his diverse heritage of African-American, Syrian, Lebanese, and Jewish ancestry with his international culinary skills. Williams, a semifinalist for Best Chef: East at the James Beard Foundation, has won multiple awards for his cuisine and has participated in Iron Chef America.
